NEW GEAR:  We just picked up a couple SSL compressors!  We’ve got a bunch of new drums and percussion too.  Late 60’s Gretschs’ 24/22/14/16, congas, cymbals, and lots of new percussion.

At Home Anywhere is back for Round 2 with Chicago Soul Rock power trio Catfish Haven. This session was extra special for Jim. He’s known the band since doing their first demos and first EP in Chicago. Its been 7 years, but they’re finally back in the studio together. The tracks were recorded on Oct 6, 2008 on the band’s tour in support of their new album Devastator (Out Now on Secretly Canadian). We caught pretty spectacular, stripped down, versions of two tracks from the new album, “Every Day,” and “Blue Sun,” plus, a particularly killer version of “Crazy For Leaving” from their previous album Tell Me (2006).

Kicking things off will be three songs from Chicago’s post-rock trio Dianogah.  The tracks were recorded on June 24, 2008 on the band’s U.S. tour in support of their new album qhnnnl (Out now on Southern Records) and feature Stephanie Morris of The Pawner’s Society on “Piñata” as well as on a fantastic cover of The Handsome Family’s “Stalled.”  It’s great great stuff.

So here is a really bad pic (pro ones coming soon) of our new construction.  We have opened the room up and made it soundproof to the outside world.  Drums are tighter and bigger!!!

Three bands that i’ve had the pleasure of recording.  Wynn Walent,  Ann Courtney & the Late Bloomers, and Clair brought the rock to Union Hall friday night.  It was the record release show for Clair’s “Long Road Home” on the Cougar Label.  I am very proud of this record and very proud of Lindsay Sullivan for writing such great songs!  It will be available June 3rd here: http://www.cougarlabel.com/

I mean seriously he has a range of about an octave and hes not a shredder either…the doode just tells a lightly ambiguous story and stays in the octave of the key and its perfect….FUCKING PERFECT!  If anyone knows what mic this is…please tell me.  Ive spent an hour researchin it.
